best treats to bribe your cat with (based on your unique scenario)

we all know that cats only listen when they want to. which is great for them (boundaries), but not so great for us. because sometimes it’s vet day. or monday night and they’re scratching at your door. or dinnertime and suddenly they’re *very* picky and refuse to eat their food.

so if you’re in need of some treat wisdom, here you go.

vet day

i think we all dread this day. my cat is an absolute gremlin monster, and it used to be IMPOSSIBLE to get her in her carrier. but i’ve unlocked a cheat code.

step 1: get a big carrier with TWO openings (one on the side, one on top)—make sure this is open and in an accessible part of your home. it should feel like just another piece of furniture. (optional if you already have a carrier, but this made a really big difference.)

step 2: lure them in with a yummy tube treat, slowly, from the top of the carrier. once they’re in, carefully close the side door. keep feeding the treat. then gingerly close the top of the carrier.

then you’re done! this isn’t a guarantee, but it does work if you go slow. (and do some practice rounds).

alternatively, you can toss some freeze-dried chicken in the carrier and see if your cat goes in. this works best if they’re not too smart. . .

3 am zoomies

cue the relentless running and guttural engine noises. if you’re trying to sleep and your cat is doing parkour, give them a chill out treat. it contains wild-caught tuna and chamomile (helps fill up their tummy and gives them some zen).

exhibit a. look how chill this cat is

when your cat is somewhere they shouldn't be (i.e. on top of the fridge)

tuna is usually the answer. if your cats are trained the way ours are, they should come running at the sound of a treat bag. these freeze-dried tuna treats are a household favorite. the VERY fragrant aroma is irresistible to most kitties. (plus, it feels good knowing they’re 100% protein).

hydration woes

if your cat doesn’t drink enough water, this one is for you. we love using this urinary support food topper for extra moisture; it contains DL-methionine and cranberry extract to help maintain urinary pH balance and support kidney function. and it’s yummy. (a win-win.) your cat will love the grilled tuna mixed with gravy.

self-care day

your cat deserves pampering just like we do. so if you’re smoothing on a face mask and snoozing your alarms, bring your cat into the TLC party. this silky skin and coat treat may not be slathered over their fur, but it does help give your cat a good fur day.

if you want the science behind it, the wild-caught tuna, blueberry, salmon oil, and collagen work together to support a glossy coat and healthy skin. how fun.

many treats makes a happy home

if it wasn’t obvious, we’re big advocates of having many treats on rotation. you never know when you’re gonna need them. and we’re sure your cats will appreciate the surplus of yummy snacks.

if you don’t know where to start on your treat journey, ask your cat. literally. write down your options on small pieces of paper. toss the paper, and see which one your cat goes to. a foolproof system if you ask us.
